”Moon Tide “ is looking for a full time bass player. We’ve been performing in and around the Austin area going on five years now. We started playing strictly covers but now have a full set of originals as well. We have a large repertoire of cover songs that span many decades and genres. We are a rock band at heart but play everything from Ozzy to BB King to Sly Stone to Johnny Cash and much more.
We play around 50 shows a year and 90% of them are three to four hour gigs in which we are the only band for the entire night. Those gigs always pay a minimum of $100 per persons but often pay more like $150 and sometimes as much as $250. Occasionally we play an all original show in which we’ll play one set with multiple bands on the bill and those shows will pay less but offer better exposure. For example we played an all original set at the Pecan Street Festival. We rehearse once a week for two hours. Rehearsals are for polishing up parts and writing new songs. Each member is expected to learn their own part for whatever music we have discussed before we get together. Rehearsals are not for learning songs.
We are not a touring band but we occasionally play out of town gigs such as Dallas and other cities within a few hours drive. We have a band van as well as a trailer for our gear. We have professional equipment including our own pa and lights.
Our ideal bass player would look something like this:
Experienced player and performer with good image and stage presence.
Ability to read music would be a huge plus
Ability to sing lead and backing vocals would also be a huge plus
Professional attitude and habits such as showing up on time and showing up prepared
