Hailing from southwest Virginia, Aside Oceans (formerly known as Red Letter Philosophy) are 5 guys that come together to share their music and their hearts with anyone open and willing to listen. Aside Oceans take a stance on the issues they believe are important in today’s society. By continuously striving to show the love of Jesus Christ on and off stage to the people they encounter, the band hope to show people the true meaning of love is not about perfection, but rather forgiveness, and in-turn see this generation affected in a more positive way.
The band’s music is a reflection of their various and rather different tastes with influences ranging from Foo Fighters and Incubus to heavier acts such as the Deftones and Beloved, and all stops in between. Fusing these different elements of melody and rock with the passion of hardcore gives them the upper hand on attracting a wider and more diverse audience.
Within the first two years as a band (performing under the name "Red Letter Philosophy",) they recorded two indie releases with premier independent rock and hardcore producer Jamie King (Between the Buried and Me, Beloved, Far-Less) in Winston-Salem, NC. Both of the efforts capture the young bands passion and love for both their music and their ministry. While the music has matured and evolved a substantial amount since that time, both showcase the bands growing ability to write memorable songs and engage the listener in heartfelt subject matter from start to finish.
After several line-up changes throughout the years, the band has arrived at its strongest line-up to date. Hitting the open road and touring with friends and playing countless shows with many great regional and national acts, the guys are ready to take their music and message to all those who will lend them an ear.
