ABOUT

Hey everyone. I’m an experienced (lead) guitarist in his early 20s, simply looking to start an “old-school” band. Look… I’m sick of all the “-core” bands, and I’m sick of black/death metal. I generally hate what metal has become. I grew up listening to it primarily, and then shifted my attention towards almost exclusively classical music for the last few years. Still, I find myself gravitating towards Power Metal and NWOBHM bands when I work out, and as I’ve been practicing frequently, I’ve realized they’re my favorite bands to play through on guitar. There’s just nothing quite like playing through a Maiden record, and I’ve played through many records across almost all the metal sub genres (from Yngwie to Megadeth to Dissection).

Anyways, I discovered a be channel called “NWOTHM,” which I strongly recommend you check out. There are some really great bands on there, that have basically inspired this post. I don’t want to be strictly derivative of the old bands, and I will not form a cover band. We’re not looking to “rip off” Judas Priest, Halloween, Running Wild, or Iron Maiden, we want our own sound.
