ABOUT

Drummer with Pro PA and Rehearsal Space looking for working band and/or songwriters. Also willing to work with a new band getting ready for the 2022 season. I have played with Soulone, Queen's Anne Revenge, 4 Car Garage, Corolla Allstars, Randy Burton & Friends, Straight Outta Colington, Monte Hooker, Mo Rones( Outer Banks NC) and Don Zientara (Inner Ear Recording Studio, Washington DC). I have rehearsal space if you need it. I am experienced in working with solo performers in volume-sensitive venues. I can scale down both the PA system and drum kit to match the sound and space requirements. Let me know if you want to listen to demos or videos of me playing. Also, I am experienced in covering for bands that need an "emergency fill-in drummer." Let me know if you just need a Soundman and PA. I have had my Covid vaccines. Free to Travel!
I enjoy working with songwriters. I have been hired by Inner Ear Recording Studios, Don Zientara to play on original material. I am at the intermediate level engineer with Digital Performer. I can drive to your gig location with enough notice.

Music Bio:
Gary's professional career started while attending college at ODU playing in Norfolk's nightclubs and after-hour military bars.
After graduation in 1974, he moved back to DC, played & toured with "Ravenstone", "The Martin Welling Band", Barry Rich Assoc., "Whitewater", "Kate Toomey & The Rainbow Riders", "A Touch of Country", "3 Wheel Drive", and "The JB Chance Band."
(Whitewater was signed to a year 4-year recording/publishing/management contract with Denny Randall. Denny is known for "A Lover's Concerto", " I'm Working My Way Back to You" and producing "Jersey Boys."

Gary was booked as a studio drummer at Bias Recording Studio, National Geographic Production Studio, Rodell, No Evil, Sounds Reasonable, Lion & Fox, and Inner Ear Recording Studio.

In 1995, Gary moved from DC to the OBX.
He has played with "Pop Quiz", "Bodega", "Soulone", "Corolla All-Stars", and "Queen's Anne Revenge", and "Randy Burton and Friends". Gary & Don Zientara have reconnected and are playing in DC and at OBX venues. (Inner Ear Recording Studio was founded by Ravenstone bandmate Don Zientara. Inner Ear and Don were the subjects of David Grohl's Sonic HBO documentary aired in 2014.) Gary and Don were invited in 2020 by Crossover TV to record "The Lockdown Sessions/ Lonesome Friends of Science by John Prine." Discord Records is slated to release a digital album of Don and Gary's orginals. Gary also plays with the local band, "Straight Outta Colington."

Influences

I listen to music from the 60's till current artists. If I need to get up to speed quickly, I will listen to genre of music that is being covered by the band I'm currently playing in.

EQUIPMENT

I play on DW's with a Ludwig Sonic snare. Of course I use Zildjian cymbals. I use Sennheiser e604 to mike tom toms. But I use a Shure 57 on the snare and a PGA52 on the bass drum. I usually sing through either a Shure 57 or 58. I run all the drums through a Behringer XR18.
