Indianapolis Music Scene
Indianapolis is home to the Annual Indy Jazz Festival. This jazz fest is a three day event held at Military Park and has featured stars like Aretha Franklin, Bruce Hornsby, Beal Fleck & The Flecktones, Kool and the Gang, Ray Charles, The Temptations, Dave Brubeck, Emmylou Harris, Chris Isaak, Jonny Lang, and Norah Jones. Famous Indianapolis natives include jazz musicians Freddie Hubbard, J.J. Johnson, and Wes Montgomery.
8 Seconds Saloon is a live music and dance bar offering some of the country’s hottest local and national country stars. If country isn’t your scene, visit Tremors in the back of the saloon. Tremors offers modern rock and hip-hop to attract a diverse crowd. The Slippery Noodle was originally founded as the Tremont House in 1850 and was a stop on the Underground Railroad. Today The Slippery Noodle is home to local touring blues musicians and has hosted performances by Billy Joel and Dave Matthews.
The Vogue was originally founded in1938 as a movie theatre. In 1977 it opened as a night club and has hosted big names like Johnny Cash, The White Stripes, Bo Diddley and Dave Matthew’s Band.
