My name is James Taylor. I am a drummer/percussionist. I am 30, married w/ children. I majored in music/percussion at UCF in Orlando. I began playing professionally at the age of 14. I played for several production companies, doing anything from trap set in a pit for musicals, studio work, swing dance bands (when it tried to make a comeback in the late 90's), party bands, corporate events, to orchestras. I taught percussion in the high school public school system in South Florida. I was, for several years the drummer for one of South Florida's renowned big bands and a jazz quintet that included Grammy nominated players. Back in 2000, I had a different career opportunity come along and I took it, semi-retiring from the pro music scene. In 2007, I have gotten back into playing, but just on a smaller level. Not seven days a week, as I have a career & enjoy spending time with my family. Since my recent comeback, I have proudly provided my drummer/percussionist services for several bands in North and South Carolina. I specialize in jazz, big band, pop, R&B, blues, latin & modern rock. However, I could play most of anything if attempted. I also am currently a cast member for the Carolina Thunder, the drum ensemble for the NFL Carolina Panthers.
