My name is Jasmine Todmann I'm 21 years old. I am a Upcoming R&B/Hip-Hop Artist from Newportnews,Va that goes by the name JLatay. Studying at Tidewater Community College in Portsmouth, VA "Business Degree". I have been singing since I was 5 years old in the church as well as in school choirs, I taught my self how to play the piano in 1999 by ear Also I wrote my first song in 2002 It kind of just came to me I remember I was walking home from school and I was listening to the cars flying down the street, the trees brushing their leaves in the wind, my feet on the pavement, the birds chirping, and the beat/words just came to me. Since then I have been writing ever since. Music in a way found me, I'm not going to say that I have always wanted to sing since I was like two. I would be lieing! I was one of those cornball little girls that dreamed first about finding my "Prince Charming" ! I guess you can say it was always my calling. Like I was listening for it, but I wasn't really hearing!

Influences

I have a lot of strong musical influences, but hands down the artists that really pulled me into their music I would have to say would be Michael Jackson and Christina Aguilera. Michael being that he was the best entertainer in the whole world literally, his music always told a story, always had passion and a reason! And you could literally feel what he was feeling in every song that he pushed out! He was very talented and always gave 200% you could always tell that with each and every song he pushed out! With Christina every time she opens her mouth and sings it is always genuine and real. She has that voice either you can take it like it is or deal with it. Her voice is in your face powerful, self control, passionate all of the above! The industry does not give her enough credit she’s AMAZING! In ways I can see a little bit of myself in her.
