ABOUT

I have been playing guitar and writing songs for a very long time. The best way to understand what I do is by going to my page. I write music mostly on the guitar (alternate tuned a lot) and the kalimba, and I play a wide variety of other instruments and record via a DAW. I am looking to start a band in the next few months where I will be primarily the songwriter, although I welcome advice and other band member's writing songs. I want to start sort of a heavy, little punky, melodic and driving rhythmic eclectic band that has at least a drummer, a bassist (upright may be cool), and another guitarist. As the band matures we can add more players. I am somewhat serious about this, and expect the other musicians to be professional. If you are serious, I have an arsenal of already written songs, and I am hungry to write more, and would like to cut an album. I live in Valdosta Georgia, and I have strong ties here, etc., a friend of mine owns a punk dive bar, and another friend of mine owns a recording studio. They are both musicians too. Again, I want to both be the primary song writer, butt sill write songs together, i.e. I would encourage suggestions, and other musicians bringing song riff ideas, and even there own songs.

Influences

Sonic Youth (this is the closest band I imagine us sounding like). Pixies, Cat Stevens, Sebadoh, Gillian Welch, Nick Drake, Belle and Sebastian, Bluegrass, Old Country (Hank, Merle, etc.), old country-blues (Mississippi John Hurt, Elizabeth Cotton, Nina Simone, Gypsy Kings, Matthew Shelton, Chris Habner and The Sheds, undergrad hip-hop (mostly the group Anitcon out of San Fran, Buck 65, Dose One, etc.)old hip hop (Public Enemy, etc.). Some older prog based music (King Crimson, Yes, etc), Jimi Hendrix, MC5, AHH, THIS COULD GO ON FOREVER, music I DO NOT want associated with this new band, IF THIS IS YOU, DO NOT BOTHER MATE, OK? I'M NOT NESSERAILY SAYING IT SUCKS, I JUST WANT TO TRANSCEND THE BORING STUFF, Classic Rock, 12 bar blues, techno, bad rap and country (don't get me started), pop music, although some pop to music is ok.
