ABOUT

Been playing music since a kid. Started with the accordion. Then had a small upright piano in the house when young and started to play that. I took a lot of music lessons as a kid. In highschool I learned to play trumpet and was in the jazz band.
I have a pretty strong right hand. But with the left I play chords mostly. I can read bass clef also, but not that strong. I fake the left hand with playing chords and signle note accompaniment as harmony.

Influences

I love classic Jazz and a lot of old standards. Used to listen to the greats in jazz often. Been to Greenich Village in NYC a ton of times when in high school and throughout my college days.. Saw many of the old greats in person : Monk, Coltrane even Count Basie and Gerry Mulligan.
Played in bands in the distant past and solo at small weddings, parties etc. I would love the opportunity to be able to play in a small group with maybe a bass player, guitar, drummer, maybe a sax also. I have played piano in small bars, jazzy cocktail music. I love playing ballads. I could also accompany a singer.

I prefer the piano. Don’t play the accordion anymore.
love to improvise and play old standard tunes. I can read well and have lots and lots of fake books.
I have composed a few songs as well. Just the music no words.

EQUIPMENT

At home I have a baby grand style digital piano: Yamaha Clavinova 309. Got a couple of sticking keys intermittently, but by and large it has a great sound.
Also i have an old Yamaha PSR 530 keyboard that's portable.
