John is a performer based out of Denton, TX. He began his musical training with Broadway conductor Brian Tidwell (Peter Pan with Cathy Rigby, Hello, Dolly! with Carol Channing) before attending Oklahoma State University, where he sang as bass section leader under the baton of internationally acclaimed composer and conductor Z. Randall Stroope.
John is recognized by an energetic stage presence, deadpan comedic delivery and a versatile baritone voice. Past engagements include bass soloist in Handel’s Messiah (Oklahoma State University), Antonio in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro (OSU Opera), the cover in Carlisle Floyd’s Susannah (OSU Opera), Don Quixote in Man of La Mancha (University of Arkansas), Mr. Lindquist in A Little Night Music, (University of Arkansas), Bob in The Old Maid and the Thief (University of Arkansas), and Colline in La bohème (Spotlight on Opera). John recently made his directorial debut at Town and Gown Theatre in Stillwater, Oklahoma with The Drowsy Chaperone, in which he also played Robert Martin, and has served as music director for Christian Contemporary and choir programs at First Christian Church (Stillwater, Oklahoma) and Eden Chapel (Perkins, Oklahoma).
John can be seen performing regularly with Dallas Chamber Choir; engagements have included providing bass vocals for Hans Zimmer’s first North American tour in 2017 and the Game of Thrones Live Concert Experience in 2018, soloist (“Gravedigger”, arr. Timothy Takach) on the group’s debut album, “Love Manifested”. He is currently contracted through their 2019-2020 season.
