ABOUT

I just moved to the Elmhurst area after living on the West coast for a while. I just opened this bandmix account after stumbling on it upon the net. If you want to contact me, then just email directly at jwsouthland. I have a free bandmix account, so it blocks out the rest of my email. It's a account. I don't know too many people here yet except family members, but I do know how to party and play music. I'm looking for a drummer and a bassist right now, just to see what musical direction our energy and chemistry takes us. I am extremely creative and have no musical boundaries, so I like to play more than the genres listed here, but it only allows you to choose 3. My style in playing is just as eclectic as the style I listen to. I take a little bit of something from all types of music, as long as it's real. Most of my lead guitar work is blues, or bluesy rock. I also play minor harmonic hard rock leads, which go well with a lot of types of music as well. I guess if I had to put playing styles in order of enjoyment, it would go something like this:

1.experimental rock
2.blues/blues rock
3.classic rock
4.modern hard rock/metal(not thrash)
5.reggae
6.acoustic

As I said before, I'm not limited to these, and I like playing jam-type music and seeing where the musicians I'm playing with take me. I'm not flaky or egotistical, and I don't try to steal the show. I like complimenting the music with a guitar, not letting the guitar take the place of my dick. My level of commitment would depend on how well we play and get along.

Influences

Bear with me--I'm going to include all the musical influences I have as well as music I like:
Slash, Jimmy Page, all the other cliche'd guitar heroes (Hendrix, Clapton), Willie Nelson, Guns 'N' Roses, Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Sublime, Slightly Stoopid, some other reggae, The Mars Volta, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, Black Sabbath, AFI, Gordon Lightfoot, Ray Charles, Muddy Waters, Leadbelly, some 90's grunge, The Doors, Zeppelin, Robert Plant's solo stuff, Almost anything from Pink Floyd, Bob Dylan, The Offspring, Beck, 3-11, Grateful Dead, Bob Seger, The Rolling Stones, CCR, Flogging Molly, RHCP, Simon & Garfunkel, The Black Keys, Canned Heat, White Stripes, Janis Joplin, Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye, lots of other random soul music, Johnny Cash, lots of random old country acts,

The reason I listed all of these is so you know my primary listening background and what music I've heard of.
