Currently the keyboardist for The Paul Leonard Band.

[Dated]
Gregory Gauvin, a resident of Branford, CT, received with honors his Bachelor of Music in piano performance at the Western Connecticut State University in the Spring of 2008 under the study of Dr. Russell Hirshfield and Professor Patricia Lutnes. During his undergraduate career, Greg studied and appeared with many great performing artists including the late Skitch Henderson, Ksenia Nosikova, William Braun, and composer Joseph Schwantner. As a member of the WCSU orchestra, under the direction of Eric Lewis, Greg was given the opportunity to perform 20th and 21st century music. Greg also has substantial accompaniment experience in the French, German, and Italian styles performing with the students of Boyd Schlaeffer, Margaret Astrup, and Perry Price. Greg is currently working towards his Master of Music degree in piano at the University of Connecticut under the direction of Dr. Neal Larrabee. He continues his performances of contemporary music with Jeffrey Renshaw as the pianist for the University of Connecticut’s Wind Ensemble, as well as working with the UCONN orchestra and chamber ensembles. Greg serves as accompanist, arranger, and assistant vocal director for the Downtown Performing Arts Center in New Haven while teaching privately in his home in Branford.

Haven confirmed my Master's degree in Piano Performance and have been working exclusively with The Paul Leonard Band. Currently employed at St. George's Church in Guilford, CT as organist/accompanist and assistant choir director. I work part time for Primer Talent Group, LLC / X Management International as well as a Freelance Musician.

Adaptive to styles of Jazz, blues, funk, latin, progressive, Christian Contemporary, Christian / Gospel, Country, Pop, R&B, Alternative, Acoustic, Show Music. You name it, I've played it.

12,000 Watt peak power. The Paul Leonard Band

General Board and Snake Description

The Paul Leonard Band PA System is designed to be straightforward and easy to set up and versatile enough to accommodate any size venue by varying the number of its Stage Sends or Amps/Speakers. Used to the band’s fullest capacity and in the largest venues, twenty-three of the twenty-four Mono channels and all of the four Stereo channels are active Stage Sends. Because the Primary Snake is connected to all the Board channels, all open channels would be available to the Stage at the Primary Snake Head regardless of venue size. Groups of cables assigned to specific members or are designated to PA gear are bundled into identifiable snakes to speed setup. Run at maximum capacity, Board usages are divided into thirteen Mic Sends and eighteen Line Outs (LO’s). Two Returns are also sent to the stage to provide signal to two headset monitor amplifiers. This manual is written assuming maximum capacity.

General Cabling Description

Mains
The Mains sub-system is run in Stereo with the Board’s ST OUT L/R outputs sending signal the Mains Amp, each channel powering two Mains Speakers, (Towers; Master and Slave), making the combined Mains complement a total of eight 15” speakers and four 1” horns. The Mains system maximum output power is 3200 Watts continuous.

Subwoofers
The board’s MONO output is a dedicated Subwoofer Send with adjustment at the board for its low pass filter bandwidth. The MONO Send is split and sends Subwoofer signal to two Parallel-configured* daisy-chained Amps, each of whose channels powers a Subwoofer cabinet (Sub) for a combined complement of four 18” Subwoofers. These are categorized as LH or RH, Inner or Outer, to designate their setup positions. The Subwoofers sub-system maximum output power is 2800 Watts continuous.

Submains
The Board’s ST SUB L/R outputs are clones of its ST OUT L/R outputs and are used to drive the Submains sub-system. The Submains is part of the design to augment or diminish the size of the PA in order to adjust to a size appropriate for a particular venue. The Submains sub-system is run in Stereo and powered by the Submains Amp and with each channel powering a Submains cabinet (Junior), for a combined total of two 15” speakers and two 1” horns. The Submains sub-system maximum output power is 720 Watts continuous.

Monitors: The Board’s AUX Sends 1 through 4 provide four Monitor mixes to the six members; AUX 1 and AUX 2 each output signal to their own Parallel-configured1 Amp with each of the Amp’s channels powering a Wedge, each Wedge housing a single 12” speaker and 1” horn with one Wedge assigned for each of the four standing members. The Wedge Monitors maximum output power is 800 Watts continuous.
AUX 3 and 4 are separate Headset Monitor sub-systems each of which returns signal to one of the two Headset Amps located on stage with the two seated members.

*Parallel configuration enables the amplifier to deliver the same signal to both channels from a single input without using a Y-cable enabling each channel to drive its own speaker load. Configuration settings of the QSC RMX series amps are made at the ten-selector DIP switch located in their rear panels. Note that only the channel A inputs are used for parallel configured amps. B inputs can be used to daisy-chain amps together.

Board AUX Sends Assignments

AUX# Designation Assigned
1 Monitor 1 Chris/Paul
2 Monitor 2 Dennis/Matt
3 Monitor 3 Steve
4 Monitor 4 Greg
5 NA Effects Processor 1 (see paragraph below)
6 NA Effects Processor 2 (see paragraph below)

See the last page for System Notes, Checklist, and Settings.

Effects, Compression, and Feedback Suppression

The Board has an integral Dual Digital Effects Processor each with several Delay and Reverb selections with one each of the two remaining AUX Buses assigned to them; AUX 5 to Processor 1 and AUX 6 to Processor 2. The Board’s design allows two effects to be used simultaneously; one per Processor/Bus.
A dual-channel Compressor/Limiter is used for the Left and Right Kick Drums for Board Channels 1 and 2 and connected into their Trsf INSERT I/O jacks.
The system has two dual-channel Automatic Feedback Suppressors (AFS) to process up to four Board channels that develop feedback and are assigned as necessary by patching into any affected Board channel’s Trsf INSERT I/O jacks.

Primary and Secondary Snakes

The Primary Snake’s Black Fan Xlrm Sends are numbered 1-32 and Red Fan Xlrf Returns are numbered 1-8. The Snake’s Send and Return head jacks are likewise numbered. Mic, Line, and Speaker cable snakes carry signal through the system with breakouts located to accommodate the relative positions of Microphones, Direct Boxes (DI’s), Amplifiers, and PA gear. All cables are numbered at their plugs and labeled according to origin and destination while the Primary Snake’s fan plugs and head jacks are factory numbered.
The Secondary Snake is 8 Channel with Xlr Fans at each end, male at one end and female at the other, which is used to connect the Primary Snake Head Return jacks to the Amps and Headset Monitor Returns. Both fans are numbered correspondingly 1-8.

Stage Snakes, Colored Banding, Mics, and Stands

Colored cables are bundled into Stage Snakes to be identified with a band members. Snakes associated with specific PA sub-systems are black cable snakes identified by colored tape and numbered/gear labels. Towers, Subs, Juniors, and Wedge cables are identity-labeled and color-banded in particular for system safety. Mics and stands are also identified on printed labels with members or gear names and color-banded.

The following are the colors and the members or PA sub-systems they are associated with:

Blue Chris
Red Paul
Green Dennis
Violet Matt
Orange Steve
Yellow Greg
