ABOUT

I've been playing bass since 1976, acoustic guitar since about 1980, and mandolin since around 2005 or so. Was in the band Love Alive 2007-2017, but joined a Linda Ronstadt tribute, Ronstadt Revue, which I LOVE and will continue with despite my move to North Carolina. But also looking for something local.

If you don't like liberals, by the way, don't bother emailing me or at least keep it to yourself. This note is here because one of the first bands I met down here got in my face about this stuff, and I didn't like it very much. Let's be clear: some of my best friends are conservative and I love them. But this QANON/Trump Cult stuff is NOT conservative. It is insane. Anyone who has a brain and can read knows that the 2020 election was fair and not compromised. Please keep that crap out of my life. Peace.

I like soul, r&b, 60s, 70s and some 50s and 80s rock, funk, and folk. No country for me, no modern stuff. Also not interested in gigs that pay $75 and finish at 12 PM or 2 AM, thank you. Those days are gone. But if you wanna do something cool, something good, that plays early in the evenings, I am up for that. I've played with nothing but great musicians (better than me, frankly) for many years, and that's what I wanna do going forward.

Vocals are VITALLY important to a band. I only wish to play with folks who can REALLY sing. To me, you need at least THREE of those in a band. It's the vocals that hold people's attention first and foremost, period.

My wedding band, which I played in for almost two decades, rehearsed a total of about FIVE TIMES during that period. Why so little rehearsal? Because we were THAT GOOD and didn't need it. Please consider that before contacting me. I really don't like wasting time helping you learn your parts. I'll come in knowing mine.

Oh, and yes, I do write and record original music. I do solo stuff just for my own sake, and I also record with my musical brothers in Heart & Soul, a band I played with for many, many years in the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s. Love doing it.
