ABOUT

Members from two Long Island bands, comprised of siblings and long-time
friends, came together to form Quarter Horse in 2013. Described as
Americana, the group’s sound is further characterized by a wide range of
influences including folk, rock, alternative, and jazz. The songwriting
employs unique arrangements, and the lyrics come with powerful delivery.
Some will say the band’s large three-part vocal harmonies have come to
define them, but other signatures of their sound include tandem lead guitar,
sections of improv that showcase the band’s musicianship, and a fondness
for utilizing various instrumentations.
“Quarter Horse,” the band’s self-titled debut album was produced by
Grammy Award winning artist Andy Falco of the Infamous Stringdusters
and released in December of 2016. Quarter Horse has since been writing
material for their next release and playing shows across the east coast
from Virginia to Vermont. On stage is where the band truly comes to life.
Acoustic or amplified, intimate rooms or large stages, the performances
equally captivate. Pulling from their ever-expanding catalogue, each set is
thoughtfully crafted and unique from start to finish.
On their local scene across Long Island and Manhattan, Quarter Horse has
made a name for themselves by playing venues such as The Paramount,
Stephen Talkhouse, My Father’s Place, The Boulton Center, The Bitter
End, and Rockwood Music Hall. For several consecutive years they have
played the Great South Bay (GSB) Music Festival where they’ve shared the
bill with the likes of Graham Nash, Gov’t Mule, Railroad Earth, and many
more.
Outside of the New York City metro area, the band has played notable
venues such as Club Passim in Cambridge, MA, and the Philadelphia Folk
Society, PA. Quarter Horse will be returning to Falcon Ridge Folk Festival
this August after being selected as the “Most Wanted Emerging Artist” of
2018. Their summer 2019 tour schedule includes stops at several other
festivals such as the Connecticut Folk Festival, Philadelphia Folk Festival,
as well as the Mayday, GSB, and Fiddle and Folk festivals back in their
home of Suffolk County, Long Island.
