ABOUT

I'm (ahem) 50-ish with a family (and a full-time job, and time commitments pose a real challenge...), and still want to rock. Mostly originals, open to some covers, I'm (low-key) looking for partners in writing lyrics and music. Have played and recorded in a D.I.Y. band called Moped Ashleys. I don't read well but know enough to figure out keys and chords. There's still magic to be found in trial-and-error.

Open to discussion on forming a band to record and play a gig or two a month. Would love a situation where I could trade off between guitar and bass, depending on the song...

A first step would be finding agreeable bass and drum partners. Pre-COVID I played solo pretty regularly at a local open mic, recently I've been busking downtown... I have a full set of songs ready for the 3-piece treatment. New material will follow if there's chemistry...

Influences

Killers, Decemberists, Ramones, Velvet Underground, Pretenders, Pixies, Cure. R.E.M., Psychedelic Furs, Superchunk, Lemonheads. Belly, Throwing Muses, Guided by Voices, Mojave 3. 80's punk, new wave, metal, and shoegaze-y pop a little rough around the edges. I get chills imagining Siouxie Sioux fronting Metallica on the Ride the Lightning album. That's a band I'd want to be in, but judging by the songs I've managed to post, it's more likely to sound like class-of-95 Superchunk or GBV...
