INCEPTION:

It all started with Charles Roberts learning to play the drums at the age of 4. Well, actually 3 years of age, but that wasn't enough for Charles. He learned the guitar soon afterward. After that, Charles was given a copy of AC/DC’s Back in Black LP for Christmas and all hell broke loose.

Charles founded Seive in 1998. Seive was to be everything by which he was influenced over the past 26 years of his life. Befriending Kevin “Ogre” Ogilvie and the late Dwayne R. Goettel, of the industrial band Skinny Puppy, helped him realize that music was more than mere composition, but actually real life audio sculptures. This is what interested Charles in the production and engineering phases of making albums. His credits include Drowning Pool, Charles Treadwell of the Hellified Funk Crew, and numerous other artists from the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Seive's creative process has always been from the mind of Charles Roberts.

The first record, Shame and Dislike, was independently released under Charles' label, UF Digital. Around 300 live shows followed the release of this record, including performances at Red Blood Club, Curtain Club, Deep Ellum Live, Galaxy Club and the much missed Trees, the club where Kurt Cobain sparked a near-riot in 1991.

Seive’s second record, Period Point Nothing, was released in 2003 with Chad Bjork lending his talent for the vocals. However, no shows were performed for this record. Although, Chad still found an opportunity to be artistic within the production realm of Seive by developing the album cover for the third album.

For the latest and upcoming record from Seive, Everyone Therefore No One, Charles decided to back the microphone again. The production of this record has been by far his biggest production to date. All songs were written, recorded and produced by Charles himself. Tracking started during the summer of 2006 and is just now receiving final touches on its last song.

Seive has gone through many great musicians within its line-up for live performances. So far the only permanent fixture in Seive has been the bass player/brother Tyler Roberts. As of today, the live line-up includes Aaron Long - guitar lead rhythm, Aaron “Bloodbath” McGrath - guitar effects, and Gabe Muzquiz - Drums.

The focus for Charles is to make great hard rock music. The focus for Seive is to play great hard rock music for everyone to hear.
