About

"What strikes me about Sotê's sound is its rhythm of delight and of soul." (Recent Review)

www.reverbnation.com/sote (Originals)
www.reverbnation.com/sotemusic (Acoustic Covers)

Sotê blends a personal voice with Joao Gilberto-inspired bossa nova, reggae, African Pop, funk and rock rhythms on his guitar. He has unique interpretations of songs ranging from Antonio Carlos Jobim (Tom Jobim), Bob Marley and The Beatles to Joni Mitchell and Tom Waits, and even a handful of classical pieces.

Sote works as a solid accompanist for solo instruments or singers, but is also versatile and competent in a wide range of genres. Sote is most interested in world music (Brazilian MPB and bossa nova, especially, but also Afro-pop, reggae and ska), jazz, and classic rock. I also have experience performing in the hip-hop and funk genres.

Sotê has plenty of experience both as a live performer and in the studio.

Influences

Joao Gilberto, Tom Waits, Tom Jobim, The Beatles, Bob Marley, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Novos Baianos, Cat Stevens, and Habib Koite.
