We're looking for an ambitious bass player and lead guitarist to join our band. By us I mean me who currently plays rhythm guitar and my best friend who plays the drums. I would best describe our music as R&B/Latin influenced post-hardcore. I really dislike the fact that I have to label our music because genre labels usually mean that that band comes with limitations and both of us are against limiting our sound to any one particular genre. Labeling your music is something that's required though in order to market yourself as a band. With that said let me make it clear that we don't make music for the money, we make music because its what makes us feel more alive then ever. With that understood we all as human beings must abide by some of society's rules in order to prosper and become successful, which is, that we need to make money. What better way to follow this rule by following your heart and doing what makes you happy. That's why I'm starting this band I want to get the fu*k out of my dead end job as a QA tester and get that money while i'm doing what i love to do which is to play fu*ken rock n roll! We're looking for individuals that feel the same, that are serious about taking their love for music to the next level. Preferably between the ages of 18 and 24, if you're a little older but still feel passioniate about playing music professionally please still reply. Please have at least one year of playing experience if your planning on trying out for us or at least are good enough to jump into the mix moderately fast. Me and the drummer have been jamming together on and off for more then 5 years, more off then on though because of distractions. We're not the best set of musicians yet but we play like we want to be the best and we're looking for people who can bring that same type of inspired drive to the group. We practice in north Long Beach California in a garage that has been insulated to double as a practice space. We currently just have one song completed and are working on our second collaborative effort, we're recruiting other band mates this early on because we're hoping to learn and grow as musicians and as good friends with our future band mates. Please respond to this classified if you even have a tiny feeling that this might be the right group for you because I'm planning on quiting my job and doing this music sh*t full time by the end of the year and time is of the essence. Lets help eachother out of this middle class hole.
My favorite bands include The Fall Of Troy, Glassjaw and Funeral For A Friend. I'm also into hip hop artists such as Joell Ortiz, Eminem, Royce Da 59 and Asher Roth. i'm currently got into the Isley brothers that motherfu*ker Ernie Isley rips on the guitar.
The drummer digs the The Fall Of Troy and Glassjaw too but he's also into electronica like MSTRKRFT and other stuff like Zero 7.
And we're both latino if that makes a difference because I know for some of you it really does make a difference.
