ABOUT

We are looking for a player to fill the lead role with the right mix of dynamics, improvisational ability, style and on- and off-stage personality that has helped us make the band a long-running success on stages throughout Atlanta and beyond.

We work hard and have fun, but if you're looking for a paying position, just know that we're not primarily in it for the money, as most of the proceeds go back into the band in the form of a stellar practice facility, travel expenses, studio expenses, merchandise, marketing and promotion expenses. We all have very serious day jobs and careers that support our livelihoods. We aren't looking for the band to replace our careers.

The Bitteroots are an Atlanta/Decatur-based original jam-rock band founded in 2008 with a sound that's been called a "unique brand of soulful rock." Our groove-oriented approach to rock n roll has drawn comparisons to the Tedeschi-Trucks Band, Melissa Etheridge and Janis Joplin.

In addition to club dates in and around the Atlanta area, The Bitteroots have played major music festivals such as The Sweetwater 420Fest, Atlanta Dogwood Festival, Grant Park Summer Shade Festival, Decatur Concerts on The Square, Amplify Decatur Music Festival, Stone Mountain Yellow Daisy Festival and many other large festivals over our nearly 10-year history.

We have released four compilations of original music and are looking to write and record more in the near future. Our most recent, "Under the Big Sky," was recorded at The Music Farm studio by Mark van Allen (Govt. Mule, Indigo Girls, Blueground Undergrass, Zac Brown Band, Whiskey Gentry). Other releases include our 2011 debut "French Fries," 2012's full-length "Central of Georgia" and 2013's "After The Rain."

The Bitteroots have shared the stage with: Butch Trucks (The Allman Brothers Band), Everclear, Drivin' N' Cryin', The Freddy Jones Band, Allgood, Col. Bruce Hampton, Arrested Development, 7 Walkers (Bill Kreutzmann of The Grateful Dead), Elephant Revival, The Milk Carton Kids, George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, Anders Osborne, Coy Bowles (Zac Brown Band), Dead Confederate, Michelle Malone, Cigar Store Indians, Adron, The Deadfields, The Sundogs, The Shadowboxers, Ruby Velle & The Soulphonics, Delta Moon, The District Attorneys, Lindsay Rakers Band, Eliott Bronson, Sydney Rhame, Tedo Stone, Saint Francis, HoneyHoney, and many other great bands and artists.
