A day in 1996, while I was listening to the radio driving home from work, a story was reported on the news that a little boy had been shot and killed in a Barbershop, during a random drive-by shooting, as he sat in a barber's chair preparing to get his hair cut for his birthday party later in the day, which NOW also became the day of his death. Having NEVER heard of such a Tragedy of Irony, I pulled over on side of the road and wept at what I had just heard. I could not wrap my mind around the forces of circumstances, which enabled/allowed this to happen. After regaining my composure, I resumed driving home and immediately grabbed my song book, began writing lyrics and the song; But That's The World That We Live In had been written in its entirety, in about 1 hour. Sadly, this is a TRUE story.
