ABOUT

I’m Chris, I played lead guitar in the band Catalyst throughout North Dakota and Minnesota. Looking to do something new. Either original stuff or I’ve been romanticizing the idea of a Pink Floyd Tribute or a Tool Tribute band…or just to jam or freestyle something.

I also play a little drums, on a Roland kit and I have a MIDI controller that I use with soft synths (Mostly Reason & Steve Slate Drums). I was also an audio engineer for a few years. I interned at MPR’s Studio M for a while and also did live sound gigs through the Stagehand Union. I’ve probably worked at every venue in twin cities at least once, from 4th Street Station or The Dinkeytowner, The Minnesota State Fair, The Quest Club, Ordway Theater, Excel Energy Center, The Target Center, etc. I’m highly skilled in ear training, frequency analysis, and acoustical engineering.

EQUIPMENT

Guitars: Gibson Les Paul, David Gilmour Signature Strat, couple other American Strats, a partscaster Tele, Ibanez S-Series, and a Jazzmaster Baritone as well as a lap steel guitar and an electric mandolin (mando-bird).

I have a long list of analog pedals, some vintage, some clones, and some I built myself. Always building more and experimenting with circuits and effects. I also have a Headrush Pedalboard from playing live in a cover band. Currently I’m just playing through a Laney Cub Stack or I have a 1961 Supro Super. Been contemplating getting a Reeves Custom 50 or other HiWatt-style amplifier.

Drums: I have a Roland KV17 kit with upgraded high hats, Roland noise eater hi-hat stand and pedal. Looking at expanding to more toms and better cymbals.

Keys: I have an old Moog Prodigy but it’s mostly a collector and I rarely play it. I use a Novation MIDI controller into Reason 11 for synth stuff. Been really itching to purchase a Nord Stage 3 but I can’t decide between that or the Reeves.

Beyond that I use a MacBook Pro and I’m running Reaper. Prefer Reaper over Pro Tools but I do have an old Mac G4 running Pro Tools as well. (Yes I started ProTools 20 years ago). I have nearly every Waves plugin/bundle you they make, and I have Reason 11 for MIDI/synth stuff. Would be willing to invest in a large/professional PA system if something were to take off.
