A long-time player but mostly alone, I would like to play with others but am unsure how to do so effectively. I have a fair amount of seemingly impractical understanding of theory. I tend to like simple music performed with a complex aesthetic. At the moment I'm just looking to "jam" to feel out songwriting and playing with others. Perhaps with an eye to open mics and small venues.

Influences
Dylan, The Velvet Underground, John Cale, Lou Reed, The Modern Lovers, Eno, Fripp, Bowie, A lot of mid-70s to early 80s post-punk/new wave/pop kind of things. limited knowledge of contemporary bands. Huge fan of The Mountain Goats' entire output. I also have a soft spot for literate singer-songwriter things. If the lyrics are clever and good, the genre becomes meaningless to me.
