I am a songwriter, guitarist, singer, multi-instrumentalist, with some indie label interest. I am a 21 year old guy in Hollywood. I am looking for a FULL DEDICATED BAND! I stress the DEDICATED part. If the statement “if I don’t have a career in music before I turn 30, I hope I’m dead” doesn’t make sense to you.. this probly isn’t the right band for you.

Bass Player
Piano Player (keyboards too – string arrangements, etc.)

How would it work?

I write lyrics to songs, and the melodies.. usually chords, whatever it is. I need you to work around this. I am NOT saying that I don’t want any musical input.. meaning, if you think E7 would sound better.. of course I want to hear it. There will certainly be times when I am not sure what to do musically, and will need your input. I am not looking for studio musicians.. I need a BAND.

I don’t want to tell you what to play. If you are a musician interested in similar things, that is a good player, we should be able to work this out. Again, the SONG always comes first, not what you are playing. Same goes for me. I could sing a complicated line.. but if it doesn’t serve the song better than the simple one.. there is no point. You should think the same way – THE SONG ALWAYS COMES FIRST.

Obviously publishing, all that would be worked out, and you’d get paid for what you wrote. The only thing I am not looking for is help with lyrics. It’s probably the thing I am best at.. and it’s really my most unique talent as a songwriter. Hopefully you will think that too.

Band money – shows, practice space, all that, would be divided evenly. I don’t need more money for shows than you.. this is a BAND. Songwriting royalties are different of course, but if you helped write it, you should get paid. Even if you didn’t.. we should work something out because you are in the band, and you’re taking a risk.

GUITARISTS: I don’t need you to shred. There will not be many times you can bust out the wah pedal, and solo for 3 minutes. So, if you are not interested in this style of music… don’t respond. If it’s what you love, like me, by all means, do.

BASSISTS: I don’t need a lead bass player most of the time. I am probably looking for a more traditional bassists, more interested in serving the song than taking solos above the 12th fret.

DRUMMER: No lead drummers. Fills are cool.. but, good songs are cooler.

KEYS: Being a good piano player, especially if you have a classical background would be amazing. I am very interested in strings and string arrangements, and those are parts you would have to play on stage. If you can help write them, that would be even better.

All musicians should be good at their instruments. I’m not interested in teaching somebody how to play in a band, or teaching a guitarist what I mean when I say I am playing an Am7 in that part…

YOU MUST HAVE GEAR. YOU MUST HAVE A CAR, or reliable transportation. If you live in the Hollywood area, or anywhere close, we might be able to work around that. YOU MUST HAVE A JOB, OR MONEY. It’s hard to make it as a band, even with good songs and talent, so.. please, you need to be able to buy yourself guitar strings, and get your tubes fixed, change your drum heads when you have to. Also, if it works out that we need practice space, you need to be able to help pay for that.. even if all we can afford is a closet in Van Nuys.

I know I seem like I’m really picky about this.. but MUSIC WILL BE MY CAREER. If there are any doubts in your head that you will work incredibly hard to get where you want to go.. a career in music.. you should not respond to this ad.

MUSIC is the biggest thing in my life, and I live for it.

Also.. I’m really not a jerk, I’m a nice, even funny guy. I just don’t want 1 million responses from metal heads that just wanna play loud and hard in their parents garage. I want serious musicians that want to make a living, and leave a legacy behind.

Please, when you respond, tell me what you do (Instruments.. main and other abilities) where you live, and what gear you have. Also, when would you be able to practice? How often? Name, age, how I can reach you.. etc. Any other information, or links to bands you have been in would be wonderful. The more I can learn about you, the better. Also, a picture would be good.. though it doesn’t really matter.

So, if you made it this far, and you are interested, check out one of the songs. It is a very rough demos, knocked out in a couple hours, but it will give you some idea of what I do, and how I do it. The recording isn’t great.. but I can make pretty great recordings. The profile was set up just for this purpose.
