Friday, November 29th, Caroline Ferrante & the Whole Magilla will be performing at the Music Cafe in Damascus, Maryland from 8:00 until 11:00. Caroline is a singer/songwriter who has just put together a new band. Joining us will be Joe Gretz on upright bass, Ken Romelli on Cajon and vocals, Nestor Rodrigo Farias on percussion, and Caroline's daughter Olivia on vocals and percussion. Caroline's unique blend of originals are interspersed with hootenanny Americana, gritty Chicago blues, lyrical contemporary folk, eighties covers, and light jazz. She loves to interact with the crowd, and always entertains!

The Music Cafe serves fresh food, made to order. Their signature sandwiches have become a staple of the cafe. Yielding ties with music gave them popular names, such as; Stairway to Freebird, The Sinatra, Ina Gadda Da Veggie, and Another One Bites the Club. Old School debuts at Rick's on the River from noon until 4. We'll be playing outside on the deck. With Kimberly Elliot Del Rio on vocals and cordless tambourine, Randy Brown (the man who put the 'old' in Old School) on bass and vocals, the witty Erik Whittington on guitar, "jumpin'" Jeff Foltz on drums and vocals and myself on keyboards and vocals, Old School performs danceable classic rock, country, blues and whatever else we can toss into the mix.

The band features Ed (Fast Eddie) Crowley on harmonica and vocals, Larry Younkins on guitar and vocals, Scott Chadwick on drums, myself on keyboards and vocals and James "Cookie" Cooke on bass. I'll be sitting in for Carl Cimino with the Bowie Grillbillies at the open blues jam at the Old Bowie Town Grille in Bowie, MD. This is one of the longest running blues jams in the area. The house band this week features Dave Long on guitar, Mike Mautino on drums and Charles Solomon on bass. We play from 8 until 8:30, then turn things over to the rest of you.

The Old Bowie Town Grille offers a full dinner menu and the service is outstanding, so come early and sup while you listen to the band. I highly recommend the steaks and fresh seafood. I'll be part of the house band for the weekly Bluesgate Open Blues Jam at Jekyll & Hyde Restaurant in Frederick, MD along with Ted Jenkins on bass and Andy Conversano on drums. I've been attending this jam on a regular basis since last year and am impressed with the musicians who participate. Sign-up starts at 7:00 and the house band plays a short set starting at 7:30, before getting other musicians up to play. The music goes on 'til 10:30 or until they kick us out.
