So, I used to make a living being a paid singer. Grew up singing in a Southern Baptist Church, and all my family sang. Between church and school I sang at least 6 hours a day. then I started getting paid to sing in different Church choirs and won a full music scholarship for a college in Alabama, where we all expected me to learn to sing opera. And I did, but I also came out as a lesbian, and this was Alabama you remember so my voice teacher told me I couldn't be a lesbian and an opera singer. Well I told him I didn't think I had much of a choice about the lesbian thing so I guessed I wouldn't be an opera singer.

Now before you get stuck in seeing me as a victim in that situation, allow me 2 explain to you that had Opera been the love of my life, no human being could have stopped me from singing opera. I would have been their #ButchyBrunhilde.

That said, I lost my taste for the sacred and fell first for showtunes and then for all kinds of jazz, as well as covers in surprising arrangements. In the 80s I worked a lot as a singer in a piano bar. I've also done cabarets a both a performer and a director / producer.

That said, I have been on disability for the last 10 years and and just now sort of getting to a point that I've started singing again recently. So I am not interested in coming in and taking anything over. I just really need to sing and I miss it.
