ABOUT

What's up! I'm Boxzilla, but lately....I go by Mike (or Mikey!)

I am the former founding vocalist for The D.O.O.D. Prior to that I was a vocalist for multiple other projects. Have been playing music all my life and have learned how to play multiple instruments along the way.

Many years ago, I took a long hiatus to focus on my career in IT after my tenure with The D.O.O.D. was over....

But now...I'M BACK! And I want to get out there and ENTERTAIN THE CROWD!!

I am mainly looking to be a vocalist in a project. Videos of my past projects are linked.

HOWEVER.....

I happen to have my own recording setup (utilizing Cubase) and have been working on my guitar and bass skills over the hiatus. I'm not a shredder, but I sure can hold a groove! I feel that this allows me to be a great asset to any group I join as part of the composition team outside of just my voice. I also write music at home and would be open to sharing ideas that I haven't quite fleshed out to inspire further creation.

I am looking for either a writing partner, or a group who are ready to get serious and bring SONGS to the table!

I don't care about how fast you play. I don't care about how flashy that sweep-picking arpeggio was out of nowhere....

I care about the SONG!

And I am looking for others that believe in that as well!

I myself have no problem with being able to financially pull my own weight in the group. I have a solid career that thankfully allows me a lot of flexibility required to get back into the swing of things!

I am not limiting myself to physical restrictions. I have no problem with composing/collaborating online if you are over an hour away. I also don't mind making the trek for the right situation!

Influenced by MANY different styles ranging from Electronic Music, to rock, to Metal, to Jazz, to Hip-hop.....

The music I am looking to work on is mainly rock/metal based, but with influences from varying realms.

Hooks and making music more audience accessible are definitely 2 priorities I like to put towards songwriting. Also working on a song to make it a song, and not a catch-all for riffage.
