ABOUT

The Color Up is an LA Indie Band that consist of experienced musicians, raised in the Los Angeles music scene and have performed at most all of the monumental venues in L.A.

Chevy

The Japanese, Filipino singer-songwriter was born July 17th 1986 in Manila, Philippines. Chivito Nishinome, also known as Chevy, immigrated to Los Angeles with his family for greater opportunities.

Chevy grew up in the suburbs of La Crescenta, CA. Although Chevy grew up in a musically inclined family, he found his love for the arts in high school by joining chamber choir, advance dance team, and rock bands. As a lead vocalist of numerous amateur rock groups, Chevy perused in and out of Sunset Blvd performing in his teens at such places as the Whiskey A Go Go, The Roxy, Viper Room, and The Key Club.

After High School, the young adult took some time off the entertainment business and pursued his interest in the medical field. By becoming a Registered Respiratory Therapist at a young age of 21, Chevy helped his family with their financial needs.

As a Healthcare Professional, he worked in downtown Los Angeles Emergency Rooms, Cardiac Surgery & Intensive Care Units. This new chapter in his life led to a deep depression and self-destructive behavior due to the nature of his work & lack of creative outlet. With the help and support of his family and friends, the young artist turned a new leaf and became a self taught multi-instrumentalist. By learning the ropes of composition alongside long time friend and bandmate Mr. Bryan Limon, “The Color Up” was manifested.

Bryan

Bryan Limon was born in Montrose,California and grew up in the San Fernando Valley. Growing up, he moved from place to place. Bryan attended private school most of my life and began doing drugs at the age of 17 because he thought it would helped him fit in better and bypass all the negative emotions he was surrounded by. Within a year, his best friend had overdosed, which led to Bryan tossing himself into a free Christian rehab called Teen Challenge International. A year and a half after being in the Christian rehab, Bryan still wasn’t satisfied yet and began drinking heavily for years. An episode that changed his life was when he was involved in a gang related incident, in which he was jumped by gang members. A couple of years later, he quit drinking and began taking music seriously. Bryan is currently attending music school, pursuing his degree in classical music.

Lorenzo

Los Angeles native Lorenzo Scott has been playing the L.A. club scene for many years.
Growing up in L.A. he’s been the member of many bands. This experience has prepared him for the job of being the rhythm keeper for The Color Up.
Lorenzo has been playing the drums since the age of fourteen. The initial spark to play the drums was actually ignited while watching The Beatles movie “A Hard Days Night” as a child.
“ I saw Ringo and I thought, that looks like a lot of fun!”. However, it took a few years from that viewing to actually get a drum set and start playing.

Besides drumming and making music, Lorenzo’s other passion is world travel. Lorenzo has visited many exotic places on planet Earth, with more to come.
It’s Lorenzo’s dream to travel the Earth with The Color Up. Experiencing far away lands while at the same time bringing The Color Up’s music to the masses.

Robert

Robert Sims was born in Washington D.C. and raised in the midwest town of Bay City, Michigan. He started played bass at the age of 18, and it was a natural progression from his artistic background. An art major in college, Robert fell into a very fulfilling graphic arts career after moving to Los Angeles in 1988. “Music brought me to L.A., and the musicians and other artist’s I’ve met since being here has definitely shaped my life.” Robert has played with some of Los Angeles’s finest. Nalle Colt (Vintage Trouble) and currently with Kurt Custer (Lynyrd Skynyrd, Steve Earle). “This is a wonderful city for meeting fellow musicians. The talent pool is very, very deep.” His musical journey continues, and he looks forward to creating music with The Color Up.
