Do you think I'm pretty?
I don't know why I'm here. I'm too old and anxiety ridden (and skinny) to ever seriously be a musician. So I make music just for me. This is how it's going to be.
To be honest, I like my music a lot. No one else seems to, but I have come to terms with this phenomenon. Sometimes I wonder if, seriously, my ears are different (and if musically, perhaps my "red" is everyone else's "green").
Everyone is always like "I'm a 25 year old male whose looking for musicians to form a post-modern punk/indie band with synth-pop and 80s metal influences. Also need an accordion player asap. I have gig space and am ready to tour so I hope you're of the same mindset. Preferably looking for people 18-30. If you're 31, sorry man. I am hoping that if you have a shared love for Captain Beefheart, the Ramones, Siouxie and the Banshees, skinny puppy, juno reactor, greenday, and john frusciante's older solo stuff...then maybe we'll mesh. Oh yeah NO fu*kING DRUG ADDICTS. I'm 420 friendly and I often drive drunk to practice but I draw the line at FUNCTIONING DRUG ADDICTS. Even if I can't tell because you do it at home recreationally, if you can't tell I'm a judgmental prick by now...well, you will within our first two or three times of meeting. NO OTHER SOLICITATIONS because I take myself VERY seriously."
That's super annoying, as is what passes for "music" these days. I'm out of touch. I'm not really 38, I'm more like 70. I grew up thinking ALL lives matter. It's a hard age to find out you're wrong. I'm not sorry if this offends you, but I am mildly afraid.
Oh yes, I now live in Salem. Not missing Portland too much.
