Influences
I learned guitar by picking up a cheap first act guitar and figuring out metal/rock riffs for 8 hours a day when I was about 12. I bought an ibanez and started delving into some classic rock, ( zeppelin, hendrix, etc) until I hit a pretty serious 80s rock phase: skid row, winger, van halen, kings X, dokken, rush, etc (thanks to my older half brother who was a sounds mixer for a lot of the big hair metal bands, and his ability to shred my brain to it's melting point). Since then I've been experimenting with a myriad of different genres and artists, some names that come to mind: coldplay (mostly from parachutes, dont judge until youve given it an honest listen), damien rice, alice in chains, disturbed, sevendust, phil keaggy, journey, eric clapton, ra, seal, 3 doors down, the arcade fire, bon iver, john mayer (mostly his non-mainstream stuff - hes a killer guitarist, admit it), elliott smith, nirvana, flyleaf, dispatch, figurines, chevelle, boston, the beatles, oingo boingo, the fray, incubus... so basically I've got a ton of influences.
