ABOUT

FYI: if you are into the material of Jorma Kaukonen (acoustic and/or electric) and have been looking to play some Hot *!!* Tuna - your search is over. I have gigged in a Hot Tuna specialty in the past, and worked with both Jack and Jorma at the Fur Peace Ranch. I welcome the opportunity to connect with musicians who love to play this stuff as it is becoming increasingly rare. Do not let this awesome material fade away- contact me. In the posted pictures you will see me performing for Jorma (Jack was out of frame). Two thumbs up from the boys!

I am always open to informal jams and focused sessions. Electric and Acoustic. While it was the sound of Paul McCartney that originally caught my young ear, my style became heavily influenced by Jack Casady (Jefferson Airplane/Hot Tuna/SVT) and Phil Lesh (Grateful Dead), giving me an emphasis on drive and tone in freeform and structured formats, and a spectrum ranging from acoustic blues, country, bluegrass and folk to full blown electric psychedelia, grunge, and jazz fusion. I welcome playing opportunities and believe it is important to play with new people often; you never know where the chemistry will be found.

In an acoustic format I also offer Tenor Guitar and regular guitar.

I am currently involved in two main projects (plus related side projects) playing an eclectic blend of blues, Dead, Dylan, Stones, Pink Floyd, originals and more. However, due to ever shifting circumstances I am open to opportunities and possibilities.

One previously advancing project, named FFT (Freedom from Tyranny), is centered around very well received original material in the Pink Floyd genre with elements of Blues. A very diverse sonic palette. It has been observed that FFT originals blend the tone of Pink Floyd with aspects of Jefferson Airplane and Grateful Dead, making for an an exciting mix. FFT practices and records in our studio in Willimantic, CT. Unfortunately, FFT has paused due to a shift in supporting players. This has created opportunity for keyboard, female vocalist/background vocalist, and rhythm guitar.
FFT released the original album, "Freedom for One", available on iTunes and Spotify. The recordings posted here are live, unmixed and a bit old, but provide the raw feel of the music. In a concert setting FFT is a multi-media event in the psychedelic/Pink Floyd tradition, as shown in the posted pictures.

A second project (Morphus/Willi-Jam) is a less formal gathering in the same Willimantic, CT location. It is common for there to be guest players (vocalists, drums & percussion, guitars, harmonica, saxophone, keyboards, violin, etc). This is where I experience growth from different players and the exploration of unfamiliar material, including extensive improvisation. Morphus is the studio "house band" and is often called upon to back live performances of our regular guests (and guests often sit in on the occasional Morphus gigs). An extremely supportive culture. Feel free to contact me if you are interested in participating in our studio jams; we've met many fine folks and players this way, and most return again and again. For the curious: the origin of "Morphus" is that the band tends to "morph" from one song to the next Grateful Dead style. So, "Morph-Us". We call the transitions "morphs".

There is opportunity for a female vocalist / background singer, with both FFT and Morphus. And again, FFT has opportunities for rhythm guitar and keyboard (vocal a plus).Contact me for details and come on down to the studio!

Therefore, feel free to contact me about my in house opportunities or the possibilities at your place. Full blown electric or light acoustic, i particularly enjoy developing originals.

Willimantic Studio Schedule (typical):
Saturdays 7:30PM - 11:00PM: Willi-Jam with Morphus (Dead/Dylan/Stones/Blues/Southern/Americana-Classic Rock)
In warm/fine weather this session may move to our outdoor farm venue- Saturdays 1PM - 5PM. Always a good time.

Sundays 1:30PM - 4:00PM: FFT (Originals, Pink Floyd...)
