Hello, my name is Matthew and I am a singer/songwriter & guitarist/percussionist in search of musicians or a band to write, record and perform original tunes together. I have over 60 originals waiting to see what you would do with them. I was the lead singer of a band called Civilians, playing the local club scene. I have performed solo and as part of a duo at various open mics and parties. I have also performed several leads in the rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar ( Judas rocks! ). My range is Baritone to Tenor, and I can belt or croon ( no screaming ). My strengths are singing and songwriting. I can also contribute music composition and arrangement. I am naturally a lead singer, lyricist and frontman (and sometimes instrumentalist ), but I can be flexible in my approach. In my ideal group, everyone contributes equally, blending ideas, influences and styles. I'm happy to take a leadership role if that's what works ( no ego issues to worry about ). To me your age is irrelevant, as long as you are mature and responsible. A positive attitude is everything. I am open to a few covers if chosen wisely and stylized in some cool way. I can dig any good music if it's not too hardcore. I have a great sense of humor and I'm very open-minded.
My vision is of an acoustic/electric blues/rock band with doses of funk, punk, psychedelic, rockabilly, Americana, Swamp and world music influence. I'm open to whatever works. I love alternative music but I think it's possible to blend in some pop sensible, mainstream accessible, radio friendly music without selling out. I believe we could be commercially successful while still staying true to our artistic integrity. I want to have fun, write lasting tunes and make cash.
