I’m a Cleveland-based musician who has just completed the instrumental tracks for 10 shoegaze / dream pop songs that I intend to release eventually as an album. I’m hoping to find a vocalist to work with to bring these songs to life. While it would be fantastic to find a singer who is local, it isn’t a requirement, as I don’t want to limit the options. For now, this project will remain a recording-only situation, rather than a live band, so we don't need to worry about geography and can instead collaborate long distance.
Some background: I’m a shoegaze lifer who is old enough to have bought Loveless the day it came out, which I did, and of course it changed my life. A few of my favorite vocalists are Liz Fraser, Jonsi, Robert Smith, Bilinda/Kevin, Miki/Emma, Rachel/Neil, Ian Masters, Julee Cruise, Victoria Legrand, Lyubov Soloveva (Pinkshinyultrablast), Jonas Bjerre (Mew), and Melissa Arpin (lovesliescrushing).
About the songs: They're synth-driven shoegaze / dream pop / noise pop / gothic rock / something or other. Although I’ve played guitar my entire adult life (and drums more recently), these tracks were created with various synth plugins. I have lyrics for half of the songs and I'm working on lyrics for the other half. I've also written vocal melodies for some of the tracks. However, I really want the singer to have free reign to add their own magic, so you can feel free to toss my lyrics and vocal melodies and write your own.
