Better known as Sekuru Berv, the youngster has always loved to sing like Oliver Mtukudzi and Akon and dreams of continuing their musical legacy. “I have decided to take a different route by singing chimurenga songs, which is not common as most young singers want to do hip hop or Jamaican music,” he told The Zimbabwean.
He has been surprised at the positive response he has received – including compliments from people saying he reminds them of the master of chimurenga himself, Thomas “Tafirenyika” Mapfumo, who pioneered this type of music in early 1980s.
