But That's The World That We Live In
But That's The World That We Live In Track number: 1 Year: 1996 Album: Window Of Opportunity Genre: R&B
A day in 1996, while I was listening to the radio driving home from work, a story was reported on the news that a little boy had been shot and killed in a Barbershop, during a random drive-by shooting, as he sat in a barber's chair preparing to get his hair cut for his birthday party later in the day, which NOW also became the day of his death. Having NEVER heard of such a Tragedy of Irony, I pulled over on side of the road and wept at what I had just heard. I could not wrap my mind around the forces of circumstances, which enabled/allowed this to happen. After regaining my composure, I resumed driving home and immediately grabbed my song book, began writing lyrics and the song; But That's The World That We Live In had been written in its entirety, in about 1 hour. Sadly, this is a TRUE story.

Melanie
Melanie Track number: 4 Year: 1996 Album: Window Of Opportunity Genre: Lounge
After losing about $200 (within an hour) playing slot machines in the Casino: The Sands in Atlantic City, I decided I had had enough of the [losing] experience and opted to just take a "free" seat at the bar to drink away the pain of my rapid loses. While waiting for my good friend (Brian B.) to finish playing his very fortunate hand, I met a woman (also sitting at the bar) named: Melanie, who oddly enough was also waiting for someone to come along (her Grandmother). Effortlessly, we began a conversation, which pleasantly lasted about 1 1/2 hours. Upon returning home later that day, I sat at my Yamaha Keyboard and inspired by the paradigm: "Losing Money, but Gaining a New friend," I began composing a tune, the chorus of which matched with the syllables of the name: Melanie. A couple of hours, instruments and tracks later, the song: Melanie had been composed and fully recorded. The lyrics (still pending recording) detail how I met this very nice woman named: Melanie.
