ABOUT
Chicago area drummer. I prefer guitar driven hard rock, but am open to most anything but country (still working on appreciating that). Lots of studio and live experience. I play with and without a click. I read/write full notation music and know my theory. I sing harmonies effortlessly while playing. I have absolutely top-notch equipment to match my dedication and work ethic. I am humble and loveable. I am very passionate about music and my playing reflects that. I am not a tapper. When the band is really grooving, I am likely to break something (stick or cymbal). I've played in front of hundreds and played in front of a dozen. I prefer the former. Influences
Every drummer I hear influences the way I play and think about music. I am quite partial to the following prog-rock Gods; Neil Peart, Mike Portnoy, Gavin Harrison, Bill Bruford. For inspiration on how to really make music groove, I look to John Bonham.

EQUIPMENT
I play custom made drums by Trick. I sold my Tama Imperialstar, Tama Starclassic maples and my Sonor Delite kits to buy more Trick drums. I love the way these beasts sound. I have 2 full kits, a sampling percussion controller, a pro tools rig, Presonus StudioLive mixer and more miscellaneous audio stuff than would possibly fit on this page. Suffice it to say that I am very well equipped to gig and record.

Trick Drum Test (Ken Kreis)
Trick Drum Test (Ken Kreis) Track number: 1 Year: 2010 Album: Drum Room Test Genre: Alternative
This was a test I did to see what my newly purchased Trick drums would sound like out of my drum room on playback. For the audio geeks, there are a pair of overhead condensers in an x-y pattern and a D6 in the kick drum. That's it. No processing, no EQ, no post effects, no remixing, no overdubs, no shit. I love the sound of these drums!
